DKJ Annual Awards 2008

JUNIOR STUDENT OF THE YEAR LEWIS HILL Training up to three sessions a week, harldy missing a session, competing in anything he could, even fighting heavier older opponents at interclubs. At 8 years old Lewis is a great future prospect for DKJ Martial Arts and we hope that he continues his success in 2009 and may even make his show debut.

ADULT STUDENT OF THE YEAR WAYNE SMEETON Achieving the grade of 1st Kyu in 2008, Wayne struggled with injuries but never let anything phase him and was one of the highest attending students of the year. Wayne has been a fundamental asset in DKJ's successes in 2008 and we hope he continues and acheives his black belt soon.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT STEVE HILL Steve doesn't compete, he just trains and participates in the gradings. A hobby for Steve and training twice a week Steve managed to lose over 2 stone in 6 months. An inspiriation for all.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT GARY FAULKNER Iin over 3 years of training Gary has been a key member of not only the corner team, he has achieved his 1st Kyu grading and competed at Interclub level. With a work move to Australlia early 2009 we wish Gary all the success and hope he doesn't like the sun too much and comes back!

HIGHEST ATTENDANCE CARLY GODWIN Having been with DKJ for just over a year Carly has hardly missed a session. When most girls her age are going down the wrong path. Carly has been an inspiration for all with her motivation and commitment.

JOSH SMEETON FIGHTER OF THE YEAR Always trains hard, never lets the coaching team down, just always narrowly losses on points. Still it doesn't phase him and despite 4 consecutive losses Josh is still as determined as ever,. Thats the mark of a true fighter!
