K-1Kickboxing

K-1 is a fighting sport which fuses centuries of tradition from martial arts such as karate, kung fu, tae kwon do and kickboxing (the "K") into a thoroughly modern and electrifying spectator sport, to determine the single best stand-up fighter in the world
(the "1").

K-1 rules allow fighters from many different disciplines to compete, and the elaborate production values of K-1 events makes these extravaganzas a veritable feast for the senses. Since its introduction in 1993 under the direction of founder Master Kazuyoshi Ishii, K-1 has become one of the world's fastest-growing sports.

Honor and respect rule in the K-1 arena, combatants draw on their finely-honed skills to deliver the artful punches, kicks and knees that have wowed millions and made K-1 the terrific success that it is.

Since 1993 there have been 8 different K1 world champions, most of which have come from a Karate background, the others tend to be Muay Thai practitioners. This is why the DKJ Martial Arts Academy can offer you the best training in what is rapidly becoming the most exciting sport in the world.
Due to its popularity K1 is currently being considered as an olympic sport. With more and more promoters offering K1, or K1 style match ups on there shows, we are sure you will find the training both interesting and testing, whether you are looking to compete or not.

The K1 style is not all about the fight. It is about the discipline, fitness, and dedication it takes to get to the level needed to be considered a K1 practitioner. This sport is ideal if you are looking to just get fit, or lose weight. Contact is not nessecary!!

DKJ Martial Arts holds regular interclubs in which juniors and adults can compete in a controled environment without the worry of serious risk or injury. The Amateur and Pro fighters have had mixed success on the UK scene and have competed with top organisations and at british title level.

Competing is by no means a neccesity and we find only about 25% of all members decide to compete and spar.
